Struggling is a sign of life
59
If you think you are struggling spiritually don’t get so down about it that you can’t come out of it. I believe that struggling is a sign that you are still alive. If a drowning man is struggling we know he needs help but were still hopeful because it’s a sign that he’s still alive and hasn’t given up, he’s still trying to overcome and if someone tosses him a lifeline he can grab it. But if there’s no struggling it’s a cause for concern. So congratulations! You might not be where you should be but at least you’re not satisfied with your lukewarmness and you haven’t become complacent.
The Christian life is a battle, a constant struggle for supremacy over the flesh, the world, and the enemy. The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). You have to strive to enter in and possess your inheritance in Christ (Luke 13:24). You won’t just slide into heaven, the road that leads there isn’t easy and it will take determination and the grace of God.
Don’t think your struggling is a death sentence and that you will never be able to do it. It’s a sign that the enemy and the flesh are conspiring against you and you need to wake up and do something about it. You can, and you will overcome by the grace of God. You may not feel super spiritual, you may be plagued by what I call spiritual insecurity (thinking that everyone else is a better Christian than you), you may feel weak and powerless, but know that God will lift you up. He didn’t go all the way to a gruesome death on the cross just to leave you struggling in sin and compromise. He went to the cross to destroy the works of the devil (which is primarily sin) and to secure for you abundant life.
Confess in faith: I am a child of the Most High God and no weapon that is formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17). God’s strength shall be made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). By His grace I shall become what I ought to be (1 Cornthians 15:10). I will not give up, I will run and not be weary, I will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). The Lord God will help me and I shall not be confounded (Isaiah 50:7)). I will quench all the fiery darts of the enemy with the shield of my faith (Ephesians 6:16), and I shall overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and with the word of my testimony (Revelation 12:11). I surrender my life to God in its entirety; He is the Spepherd and the bishop of my soul (1 Peter 2:25) and I am the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 95:7). The Lord will perfect that which concerns me (Psalm 138:8) and preserve me unto His Heavenly Kingdom (2 Timothy 4:18). In Jesus’ Name!

I know I needed to hear this. Perfect timing. I don't know that I ever looked at struggle the way you described here. As a sign of life and desiring more out of life.
